Amateur is a word that’s tossed around a lot. As is the phrase ‘first time’. It’s rare to see a set which seems to embody both in a way that no one can really argue with.
Gita looks into the lens with such unfiltered directness it makes you wonder if she can see you too. Many of the racier images appear to be shot in her home. A glimpse back in time to when moving a 22inch television required two people and anything larger was left where it sat for the next owner to worry about.
The non-studio shots here are particularly interesting. When they were taken people would have derided them for being amateurish. Nowadays they look a few years ahead of Terry Richardson.
